The referendum decision will affect society irreversibly, and people should go out and vote no to no-fault divorce, Żwieġ bla Divorzju representative Arthur Galea Salomone said today.

“We’re speaking of lasting marriage which has been with us for centuries; it is a heritage which we need to cherish,” Dr Galea Salomone said in an end-of-campaign comment.

“If no fault divorce is introduced, our children will pay, and our children deserve the best”.

Looking back at the campaign, the lawyer said the 'no' movement had started with a huge disadvantage behind the yes campaign, but that the movement had based its whole campaign on truth, which was not the case for the other side.

“Now we’re faced with a decision and we have a lot of half-truths – will maintenance be guaranteed? What will happen to children? what will happen to widow’s pensions? We don’t think a historic decision should be taken on the basis of deceitful information,” Dr Galea Salomone said.
