The divorce MPs Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Evarist Bartolo wanted to introduce would greatly endanger one's right to a widows' pension, currently enjoyed by women even after separation, the No Movement said.
It said in a statement that in many separation contracts, women who dedicated themselves to take care of their children retained the right to a widows' pension following the death of their separated husband.
The proposed divorced law endangered this right, the movement said.
