Obituary

BUHAGIAR. On October 12 at St Luke's Hospital, ENOCH, of Pietà, aged 79, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters Madeleine and her husband Carmelo Duca, Stella and Jessie and her husband Joseph Gatt, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Msida parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m. followed by burial at the Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

SALIBA. On October 12 at St Luke's Hospital, CARMELO, of Zejtun, aged 77, director of Saliba Brothers, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Josephine and her husband Joseph, his brothers Angelo and his wife Betty, Paul and his wife Lela, Joseph and his wife Gola, Vincent and his wife Catherine, his sister-in-law Polly, widow of his brother Remig, nephews and nieces, cousins, including Fr Remig Saliba, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for St Catherine parish church, Zejtun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at St Gregory Cemetery, Zejtun. No flowers but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated.

Marathon Proceeds

The Vikings Sailing Club's 50-hour sailing marathon last August raised Lm1,000 for the Ursuline Creche Sisters. The cheque was presented recently to the creche.

The marathon was sponsored by the Malta Maritime Authority.

Ministries To Malta

Ministries to Malta, a Christian volunteer organisation, is sponsoring an evening seminar on parenting and an evening and day-long marriage enrichment conference.

The parenting seminar will be held at the Waterfront Hotel in Sliema today at 7 p.m. while the marriage enrichment seminar will be held at the same venue on Friday at 7.30 p.m. and on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. The guest speakers for both events will be Mike and Freddi Booth from Oklahoma. Entrance is free.

Anniversary Mass

The 25th anniversary of the election of John Paul II will be celebrated with a concelebrated Mass presided by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Mgr Felix del Blanco di Prieto, and the Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca.

The celebration will be held at St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta on Saturday at 6 p.m.

John Paul II was elected to the papacy on October 16, 1978.

Italian Language Week

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Accademia della Crusca is holding the third edition of Italian Language Week between October 20-25.

The events organised locally by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Department of Italian of the University of Malta include talks at the institute premises in Valletta each day that week at 6 p.m.

On October 25 the institute will be open to the public from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Fund-Raising Concert

The Assocjazjoni Lajci Agostinjani Spinelljani is organising a fund-raising concert in aid of the Augustinian Sisters' Missions in Brazil and the Philippines.

The concert is to be held in the Teresa Spinelli Hall, St Monica School, Birkirkara on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets at Lm2 for adults and Lm1 for children under 12 are available from St Monica schools in Gzira or Birkirkara.

Gala Dinner Dance

The Daniel Delicata Memorial Association is holding a gala dinner dance at the Radisson SAS ballroom in St Julian's on November 14.

The price of Lm15 per person includes assorted canapés, coffee and petits fours as well as free flowing wine and water during dinner. Bookings should be made with the association at Gloriana, Triq il-Migbed, Swieqi STJ 04 by November 7.

Annual Concert

The King's Own Band is holding its annual concert at the Catholic Institute auditorium in Floriana on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. It will be directed by John Galea.

Free tickets for the concert are available from the King's Own Band Club in Republic Street, Valletta.
