BUGEJA. On August 28, JOSEPHINE, of Sliema, known as GUZA, aged 84, passed peacefully away at home. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Salvu and her loving children Mary and her husband Michael, Joe and his wife Gloria, Doris and her husband Silvio, Maris and her husband Charles, her grandchildren Alex, Colette, Andrew, Simon, Christopher, Michelle, Christienne and Elizabeth, and her great granddaughter Maria, her brothers and sisters Carmelo, George, Georgina, Helen and Maria, other relatives and friends - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for Stella Maris Church in Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at St Leone cemetery in Zurrieq.
No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

SCHEMBRI. On August 28, Shiela née Pisani, of Sliema, residing in Kappara, after a short illness bravely borne, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband George, her loving children Iona and Joe, Ashley and Gordon, and Hamish and Francesca, her grandchildren Liam and Chad, her sisters Marlene, and Daria and her husband John, and her brother Edwin, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Capua Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for St Julian's parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

New Appointments

ETF Vacancies

The European Personnel Selection Office, on behalf of the European Training Foundation has issued vacancies on a temporary agent basis for an expert on vocational education and training systems modernisation, and for an administrative assistant.

Applicants for the first post must be nationals of an EU member state, an EU acceding country or a Meda Partner Country while applicants for the second post must be either nationals of an EU member state or of an acceding country.

The closing date for applications is September 10.

Sliema Band March

The Sliema Band will march along Ghar-id-Dud promenade at the invitation of the Sliema local council as part of its summer activities on Wednesday from 8 p.m.

Conducted by Mro Ronnie Debattista, the band will perform festive marches, including the ever-popular Fliegermarsch by Herman Dorstal and Pampeago Marsch by Carlo Deflorian, marking its international successes in Bremen, Germany, and Trentino and Veneto in Italy.

Cardenio Botti's landmark Sliema Hymn will bring the programme to an end.

Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in Canada is inviting nominations from Maltese candidates interested in pursuing postgraduate studies, for scholarships tenable during the academic year commencing September 2005.

Further details about these scholarships can be obtained from the Customer Care Unit, Ministry of Education, Floriana. Applications should be submitted by September 30.

Aviation Agency Vacancies

The European Aviation Safety Agency of the European Union is seeking applicants for the positions of communications manager, product safety rulemaking officers (two posts) and international cooperation officer. The closing date is September 30.

Rent Regulation Board

John Sciberras, Joseph Jaccarini, Frederick Valentino, David Pace, Renato Laferla, Godfrey Vella, Joseph Briffa and Anthony Fenech Vella, architects and civil engineers, have been appointed to the Rent Regulation Board, for a period of two years with effect from August 1, 2004.

Planning Appeals Board

Conrad Thake has been appointed a member of the Planning Appeals Board with effect from July 15. He replaces Chris Borg, who has resigned.

Acting Appointment

Laura Agius has been appointed acting director of the Family Welfare Department by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity.

Telecoms Appeals Board

The Telecommunications Appeals Board is made up of Austin Bencini, chairman, Albert Balzan and Charles Sciberras, members, and Charles Griscti, secretary. Their appointment is for one year from August 29.

EU Vacancies

The Intelligent Energy Executive Agency of the European Union has the following vacancies on a contract staff basis: communications officer, communications assistant, 13 posts for project officer, five posts for financial officer and four for secretaries. The closing date for applications is September 15.

Other posts are required on a temporary agent basis and include accounting officer, legal adviser, informatics expert, office and human resources assistance and two posts for principal financial officer and principal project officer. The closing date for applications is September 30.

Workshops On Reiki

Two workshops on Reiki will be held at the ISIS Creativity Centre in Msida on October 2 and 3 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

On the first day the workshop will be dedicated to an introduction and history of Reiki, a type of ancient healing involving gentle massage therapy and deep relaxation. The second day includes a more in-depth study of Reiki. The two-day package costs Lm175.
