In one SMS, signed Referendum, people are being urged to vote Yes "as Joseph Muscat will do”.

Others have been urged to vote No to end spring hunting. They were told to mark an X in the brown box and leave the yellow box empty.

l-orizzont featured adverts by the Yes campaign showing the prime minister and his declaration that he would vote yes.

The No camp ran newspaper adverts showing the two political leaders and saying they had left their supporters to make up their own minds.
