The ball is now rolling for the Table Tennis Academy which has introduced table tennis training with a difference early this summer.

This initiative was greeted with great enthusiasm and gained instant popularity as many students grasped the opportunity to attend sessions at the academy under the professional supervision of arguably Malta's most successful talents in this sport, Mario Genovese and Edward Baldacchino.

As the variety of styles are being unleashed, individual improvement is being attained by the participants. To ensure this fast pace, coaches Baldacchino and Genovese are putting the Swedish system into full application, creating an environment of fun and creativity coupled with great technique application.

Genovese was Malta table tennis champion for 18 years and has represented the islands for more than 20 years, travelling the globe and playing in more than 12 World Championships. Genovese currently also serves as national coach.

Baldacchino has won Malta's national championship three times and has taken part in many European and World Championships.

Most classes at the academy have already been taken up but there are still some places available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

No prior knowledge of the sport is required and all ages are admissible. A special intensive advanced category session is being organised for advanced students.

For full details, one may contact Edward Baldacchino on 2124 8632 or 9947 0278, or Mario Genovese on 7959 1799.
