During the national championships being held at the National Pool over the weekend, Sliema ace swimmer Andrea Agius reached a new height when setting up an impressive national record in the 100m breaststroke.

He clocked 1:07.47, 1.13 seconds inside his own previous mark set in Lyon this year.

Another national limit was reached in 4x50 freestyle when Neptunes quartet, Andrew Chetcuti, Edward Caruana Dingli, Quelin Zammit and David Zammit, registered 1:40.53, an improvement of 2.46 seconds on the previous record.

In the age groups there were new marks for the ever-improving duo of Matthew Zammit and Amy Micallef in the 'C' and 'B' categories respectively.

Zammit swam the 50 'fly in 27.96 while Micallef covered the one-lap race in breaststroke in 36.99.
