I would like to show my disgust about living and travelling through Sliema. On February 13, a contractor with two trucks closed Graham Street (daily routine), another truck was unloading material and blocking the way in Amery Street corner with Graham Street and yet another truck was working in Amery Street, again hindering the flow of traffic. I am sure there were other closed streets within Sliema at the same time and on the same day!

Does the local council not plan so that only one contractor is allowed to close the roads? On Thursday, I was going to Valletta at 2.30 p.m. and was trying to go through Bisazza Street, which was again blocked by heavy traffic due to construction works!

Is there someone who is seriously responsible for such arrangements? Can it be that he/she does not realise what an inconvenience these works are causing to the local residents and citizens? This not to mention the dirt which the contractors leave behind.

We, residents of Graham Street, have been suffering the arrogance, noise, pollution, rats etc. for the last 20 years and no one seems to care. It is time to take action.
