Week eight of the National League at the Eden SuperBowl saw leaders Veltins Premier Lager obtaining the only full-point victory. They beat Royal Shock 8-0 to extend their lead at the top to six points.

In other key encounters, Aercomms beat Toons 6-2 to snatch second place from Ramis, as the latter lost by the same margin to Masacuatas. Fina First are fifth after a draw with Café D'Or.

Veltins got another confidence booster at the expense of Royal Shock. New star Chris Beesley had a strong influence on the result, again rolling well over 600 (638 pins). The only notable performance from the losing side was that of Pierre Galea with a 568 series.

Aercomms should have taken all eight points from Toons as the latter were a bowler short.

Ernest Agius was Toons' best on 507, while national champion Kenneth Arpa registered a remarkable 643 for Aercomms.

Ramis' recent winning streak was ended by a 6-2 beating at the hands of The Masacuatas. Ramon Stafrace topped the winners with a tally of 550 as Ramis duo John Balani and Benny Hili scored matching 508s.

Fina Excel bowled the series of the week (2,388) on their way to beating Thunder Storm 6-2.

Brian Farrugia took the honours for male bowler of the week thanks to a significant 679 series. Thunder Storm's Clive Saliba managed a 638.

Café D'Or vs Fina First was one of two tied matches as a four-point share was enough for both teams to advance to sixth and fifth place respectively (level on 36 points).

Jenny Swift (Café D'Or) was female bowler of the week as Dennis Mercieca rolled a 613 for Fina First.

It was also a 4-4 split for Vodafone and Maltacom. David Debono was Maltacom's best bowler with a 583 series.

Veltins 48, Aercomms 42, Ramis 42, Maltacom 36, Fina First 36, Café D'Or 36, Royal Shock 36, The Masacuatas 32, Fina Excel 28, Thunder Storm 20, Toons 14, Vodafone 14.
