The idea of taking a pet to church seems to be gaining ground with some animal lovers.
I am sure we all agree that the church is a place of worship and, as such, we go there to pray.
As far as I know, the same thing cannot be said for animals. Thus, the church is not the place where one should take a cat or dog. Some may say that their pet is a quiet creature and it won't disturb. However, an animal is an animal everywhere and its behaviour cannot ever be taken for granted. What if a pet spots another four-legged friend or (maybe) foe, would it remain quiet? Usually dogs bark at each other. And what if nature calls?
One sincerely hopes that common sense prevails.
It is good to love animals, as they are also God's creatures, but it is best to avoid all kinds of distraction in church and let the place remain solely where human beings find refuge in prayer and worship.
