As a Gozitan, I have become used to being treated as a second-class citizen by various Maltese administrations except once every five years when the Maltese suddenly discover that I am their brother till I cast my vote.

However, after hearing about the programme of the Pope's visit, I was saddened to realise that whoever is in charge of the arrangements is also treating us Gozitans as second-class Catholics.

One explanation I heard was that it would be too strenuous for His Holiness to come to Gozo, yet, he's is being made to cross the Grand Harbour. I should think that a 10-minute trip by helicopter wouldn't be more tiring than the harbour crossing!

Nevertheless, I still pray the Almighty God for His Holiness's well-being and for the success of the visit.
