An armed and hooded robber entered a confectionary in Żejtun yesterday morning firing shots in the air, terrorising the owner who handed over about €2,000 in cash.

The robber fled to a waiting vehicle driven by an accomplice. The 35-year-old owner of the confectionary was taken to hospital to be treated for shock, the police said. The confectionary is situated in Bishop Emm. Galea Street.

The car used in the hold-up was later found burnt in the vicinity.
