The Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprise - GRTU said shop owners will be allowed to open tomorrow and on Wednesday, a public holiday.

This follows a request by the Chamber to Tonio Fenech who is now Minister of Finance, Economy and Investment, responsible for the commercial sector.

Those shops that choose to open will respect normal hours. There is no obligation to open and the choice whether to open or not lay with the shop owners, the GRTU added.

The GRTU asked that outlets should be allowed to open during normal hours tomorrow, on Wednesday and on Good Friday arguing that consumers had delayed their pre-Easter shopping because of the March 8 election and the aftermath.
