The body of a 45-year-old Russian captain who died of natural causes on board his ship while sailing in international waters was brought to Malta late on Monday evening.
A tug boat with a doctor on board sailed out to meet the ship after the captain died suddenly in the early hours of Monday morning. The doctor proclaimed the man dead and the tug boat brought the corpse to Malta.
An autopsy yesterday morning established that the man died of natural causes.
Duty Magistrate Giovanni Grixti was informed of the death but saw no reason to open an inquiry.
