Five large shark paintings worth £20,000 by the "female Banksy" have been stolen in Islington, police said.

The murals, painted by acclaimed street artist Bambi, were taken by thieves who broke into a building site in Upper Street, Islington, earlier this month.

The panels are painted black with large white stencilled images of sharks and fluorescent pink flower shapes on them.

The true identity of Bambi, who has been a graffiti artist around Islington for around five years, is a closely guarded secret.

She counts many celebrities among her fans, and rapper Kanye West reportedly gave his wife Kim Kardashian a specially commissioned painting by Bambi as a wedding present.

Robbie Williams, his former Take That bandmate Mark Owen and One Direction star Harry Styles are also said to own pieces by the artist.
