Bank of Valletta's share price eased back at the end of the week after reaching an all time high of Lm7.06 on Tuesday. Trading opened at Lm6.89 on Monday, ranged between the weekly low of Lm6.69 and the weekly high of Lm7.06 before closing at Lm6.90 yesterday. Total turnover for the week amounted to 148,863 shares bringing the total value transacted in Bank of Valletta to Lm1,038,124. These shares changed hands in 276 deals. Following the close of business yesterday, best unsatisfied bids for 527 shares at Lm6.90 stood against best unsatisfied offers of 850 shares at Lm6.97.

HSBC shares also eased back on gains made in previous weeks after closing yesterday's session at Lm6.90. From Monday to Thursday trading was struck between Lm7 and Lm7.151, while yesterday's session saw 17 deals for 10,810 shares dropping the price to Lm6.90. This marked a drop of 12c over last week's closing position of Lm7.02. One hundred and eighteen deals were struck during the week over which 65,960 shares changed hands. Best bids for 1,900 shares at Lm6.78 and best offers of 556 shares at Lm6.90 remained outstanding at the close of business yesterday.

Turnover in Maltacom shares amounted to 65 deals being struck over 64,097 shares. The equity opened trading on Monday at Lm1.70, and closed at the same level yesterday. During the current week, the equity reached a weekly low of Lm1.64. Following the close of business yesterday, best unsatisfied bids for 2,000 shares at Lm1.67 stood against best unsatisfied offers of 1,000 shares at Lm1.70. On Thursday, the Company announced that Mr S. Muscat is no longer CEO.

In a company announcement issued on Wednesday, FIMBank p.l.c. announced that the Board of Directors shall be meeting on February 19 to consider and approve the annual financial statements of the Company for the year ended December 31 and to consider the payment of a dividend, if any.

Yesterday, Santumas Shareholdings plc announced that the company has entered into a preliminary agreement for the sale of certain immovable property and other rights to a third party for a total consideration of Lm1,520,000.

Total Malta Government Stock turnover amounted to a nominal value of Lm280,400 being traded in 69 deals over 21 different stocks. Trading over the week in corporate bonds was made up of a total value of Lm61,908.

The Malta Stock Exchange Share Index decreased by 31.08 points or 0.69% over the week and now stands at 4,458.634.
