The commemoration of the June 7, 1919 bread riots on Monday will be held at Hastings Garden, where the Sette Giugno monument was erected over the past few days.

The programme starts at 9.30 a.m. when the police band marches off from the Palace Square - where the monument was located up to some months ago - to its new site at Hastings, overlooking Marsamxett.

The Speaker, Michael Frendo, will deliver an address. The Last Post will be sounded and a minute's silence will be observed before the Reveille.

The Speaker will then lead wreath laying.

Flowers will also be laid by the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, MPs and representatives of constituted bodies.
