The University is an active partner in an EU project entitled "Mediterranean Virtual University". This project brings together 11 partner universities to provide high-quality online courses. The project is still in its development phases but a large number of courses have already been developed and are being piloted around Europe and the Mediterranean region.

In this context, an open day seminar is being held at the University Gozo Centre entitled "E-Learning for Small Island States" tomorrow from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m.

The event has two principal objectives. The first is to acquaint the public with the concepts of e-learning and how it solves some of the major problems being faced by small states such as Malta. The second involves introducing the audience to the Mediterranean Virtual University project and giving a practical tinge by demonstrating courses which have already been developed.
