The Malta Resources Authority has granted a licence for a company with Maltese and Italian shareholders to market lpg gas cylinders.

The licence, issued to EasyGas, is the second to have been issued following the liberalisation of the sector, over which Enemalta used to have a monopoly. The first licence was granted to Gasco, which took over the Enemalta operation.

The new company will fill its gas cylinders in Sicily and ship them to a depot near Luqa, from where they will be sold. A permit for the depot was granted some weeks ago by Mepa.

The licenses issued today allow the company to distribute the gas in bulk, storage lpg in cylinders and in bulk at its Luqa depot and import and sell gas from its Luqa site.
