A Learning Support Zone to help pupils with social and emotional difficulties was inaugurated this morning at the boys' secondary school at Ta' Paris in Birkirkara.

Teacher Aaron Borg explained that pupils will be referred to the support zone for evaluation and assistance according to their needs, be they academic or behavioural, the aim being to help them integrate better in the mainstream educational system. Similar support zones exist in a number of other schools.

Education Minister Dolores Cristina praised St Theresa College - of which the school forms part - for inaugurating the support zone, saying it was part of the ongoing reform of secondary schools.
