Labour candidate Philip Vella, who contested local elections for the first time, has been elected mayor of Sannat.

He obtained 338 first count votes against a quota of 200.

Teddy Bajada and Toni Mercieca, both PL, were elected on the second count. Manuel Tabone, PN, was elected on the ninth count and Joseph Bajada, also PN, on the 10th.

Labour is seen gaining four seats in this locality from three in the previous election, gaining a seat from AD which did not contest this time as its candidate switched to the Labour Party.
