Passengers were stranded in Europe today as flights heading to the East Coast of the United States were cancelled in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Sandy. 

At Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport, Heathrow and several other airports, hundreds of passengers bound for the East Coast of the United States were stranded.

Airports up and down the US coast shut down in anticipation of the storm's impact.
