Shirley P Xerxen in her letter on the Valletta Waterfront gala (A Great New Year's Eve Party, January 11) sure made me wonder whether my friends and I attended the right party on New Year's Eve. The name sounds just about right, and so does the venue, but her description of the party is so different from what we all experienced.
A search party should have been sent out to find any traces of anything edible, the crammed bars made it seem as dry as a desert camp and we had to rub shoulders with smoking party-goers every step of the way. The fact that the event afforded three distinct dance areas was indeed something novel, however getting from one dance area to another was a task worthy of Heracles himself.
Ms Xerxen would really make a brilliant marketing agent.
