San Ġwann FC are aiming for a top-five finish in this season’s Division One Championship.

This was stated by Joe Brincat, the club’s technical director, during a news conference at Le Meridien Hotel in St Julians in which San Ġwann unveiled The Lightshop as their new sponsor.

In his opening address, Bjorn Vassallo, the club’s secretary, said that San Ġwann are reaping the rewards of their investment in the youth sector. San Ġwann’s senior squad is virtually made up of players who came through the club’s nursery.

Brincat outlined the progress made by San Ġwann in the last three years. The former Malta international declared himself confident that the Saints have a strong-enough squad to finish in the top five in this season’s Division One.

Pieter Bregman, director of the The Lightshop, said his company was honoured to be associated with an innovative and active club.

“San Ġwann have excellent facilities, a great youth set-up and many talented players,” Bregman said.

Leonard Vella, the San Ġwann FC president, thanked his predecessors, namely Joe Falzon, Louis Agius and Andrew Sullivan, for their sterling service. Vella mentioned the on-going works to upgrade the clubhouse and plans to expand the training centre.
