The Russian Navy destroyer Vice-Admiral Kulakov arrived in Grand Harbour this morning on a visit of a few days.

The destroyer was commissioned in 1982 but was laid up between 1991 and 2010, when it was re-commissioned.

It forms part of the Udaloy I class of anti-shipping and anti-submarine destroyers built for the Soviet Navy, eight of which are currently in service with the Russian Navy.

The ship joined the Russian Mediterranean fleet from the Northern Fleet in April.It carries surface-to-surface missiles and torpedoes.
