The cooperation agreement signed between the Maltese and Chinese government yesterday on a five-year cooperation plan in a number of sectors including energy, aviation, infrastructure, research and innovation, was a very important one for Malta, the Labour Party said.

It said in a statement this morning this was the first such agreement signed by a European country and would result in wealth and employment for Malta.

The PL said the government was giving the country’s foreign policy a new dimension working not just to strengthen its relations with foreign countries but also to attract more investment from which everyone should benefit.

It was a clear show of the excellent relations between the two countries and an important step forward which should be beneficial for the country as well as Maltese and Gozitan families.
