How can Christopher Bezzina, in his article The Capacity To Create Better Schools (August 20) say that this is an exciting period in the history of education when the results for the posts of Assistant Directors (and there are many posts vacant) have not yet been issued after three and a half months, due to a lack of agreement and because of officials who are complaining about the procedures adopted for selection?

How is this an exciting period when the appointments for Education Officers which were due to be held this week have now been postponed indefinitely because of serious mistakes in the interviewing procedures?

How can this be an exciting period when teachers who are applying and going for interviews are now finding out that the posts they are applying for are not going to be issued due to a lack of funds?

Is this an exciting period when the accountability at a national level in schools has been stopped this year and there are five Principal Education Officers who have no audits to do?

Are the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education, the Speaker and the Shadow Minister of Education aware of all this? Mr Bezzina seems to be living in the clouds.
