With reference to a letter by Marlene B. Yale entitled Rabat Holes (July 5), may I draw Mrs Yale's attention to the fact that that on May 14 the resident in question wrote a thank you letter to me for "dealing with the hole in the road".

It is worth noting that the council handymen have, in the meantime, completed the iron grate to cover the drain. Prior to sealing it with cement, the culvert cleaning contractor was asked to clean it as per Mrs Yale's request.

Such cleaning usually starts in mid-August in preparation for the September storms but, to meet Mrs Yale's need, the local council requested the contractor to do it right away.

A works order in this regard was issued and the work has been carried out.
