In the picture of the Prime Minister cutting a birthday cake to celebrate the first anniversary of Maltco Ltd, I think it would have been appropriate for the Maltco CEO to cut it because Maltco is eating the cake.

The report started as follows: "Maltco Lotteries Ltd has reported over Lm14 million sales in the first half of this year". That to me is a disaster. I am not going to ask about the net profit, because that, after all, is their reason for operating. However, for a nation of nearly 400,000 inhabitants to gamble Lm14 million in six months is a scandal. I think we should weep not cut cakes.

When lotteries were in government hands all of that money remained in Malta but now a substantial amount will be exported. This new gambling company has introduced new gambling outlets with permission to open for long hours seven days a week. Sunday, no more a day of the Lord, is included.
