Traffic on the road to Mosta from the Lija cemetery has become "horrendous" every day after 7pm and at lunchtime on weekends following the opening of a drive-in restaurant at the new Pama supermarket, according to motorists.

One driver this morning complained of spending 25 minutes to get through the stretch.

A Mosta resident who lives nearby, he said: “This is costing me five hours extra a week stuck in traffic.”

The problem seems to have been caused by the siting of the restaurant — on the outside of Pama rather than further in.

"Basically, the inner lane has become the queue for the drive-in,” he said, adding that the Pama establishment has plenty of space in its grounds to take the cars headed for the drive-in and have them form the queue inside rather than on a public road.
