An Italian tourist sustained grievous spinal injuries when she fell off a quadbike driven by her husband in Wied il-Mielaħ on Wednesday afternoon.

The couple were going down a hill when the rented vehicle toppled over, the police said.

The woman did not realise the extent of her injuries and only sought medical assistance when she later could not bear the pain.

On Tuesday, a 48-year-old Swedish woman was also grievously injured when she fell off a quadbike.
