The news that the General Workers' Union has ordered nursing aides to take industrial action in state hospitals because they want to sign in instead of punching in for work sent my memory back to when the opposite was the case.

At that time the GWU successfully pressured the dockyard management to make clerical and management staff punch in instead of signing in to be like the rest of the workers.
