A 24-year-old prostitute has been remanded in custody after she pleaded not guilty to holding a client against his will and threatening him with a knife.

Brenda Carabott, who lives in Valletta, was also charged with stealing the man's credit cards and watch, handling stolen property, slightly injuring him and loitered for prostitution.

Police Inspector Carlos Cordina told the court that after having sex, Ms Carabott stole her client's wallet.

The victim said she threatened him with a knife and a pistol.

Ms Carabott and her boyfriend Gilbert Busuttil, 26, allegedly took the victim to an ATM in Gzira, where a large sum of money was taken from his account.

Mr Busuttil, who is homeless, was jailed four months after pleading guilty, in a separate arraignment, to breaching bail conditions.
