On the evening of Friday, June 25 all my high definition channels began to break up, some HD channels being lost completely, though no problems were encountered with non-HD channels. Throughout the following day, again there were no problems with HD reception until that evening at about eight, when, once more, all HD channels began to break up.

Despite numerous contacts with Melita's customer care and technical support staff throughout the ensuing week, the problem remained.

Last Saturday, my Melita HD box was replaced by a local Melita technician here in Gozo, albeit his having to wait one hour and 20 minutes before a technician at the Malta end was available to unlock the new HD box, to the embarrassment of the Gozo technician, although he was offered a bed for the night!

Result? HD reception picture perfect, until 8 p.m. when the same problem recurred. The very same annoying scenario repeated: problem-free HD reception during the day, alas in the evening not so perfect a reception.

Time for our Malta media service providers to seriously consider taking onboard ISO 9000/1 certification perhaps?
