The Prime Minister’s second car guzzles an average of €114 in fuel each week, an average of 87 litres. This was 38 litres (€44) more than his official car.

Replying to a parliamentary question by Nationalist MP David Agius, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said the second car started being used in March 2014.

Dr Muscat said that in the last legislature, an average of €96 (76 litres) of fuel a week used to be spent on the Prime Minister’s official car.

The fuel expense on the second car was an average of €27 a week, an average of 21 litres.

Dr Muscat also said that the fuel expense on the official car being used by the Opposition leader between June 2013 and November last year was €75 a week, an average of 56 litres.
