A couple of weeks ago, The Times carried an article about the way traffic has now been directed at Msida. The article said that the new system had misfired and how right it was.

Nowadays, to go towards Gżira or Sliema vehicles are being directed to the second right-hand exit and no longer can they take the first (which now can solely be used to go to Valletta!) which was much faster. This exit did not create a large traffic jam.

It is already bad enough that those vehicles which intend going to Regional Road end up blocking the way for those vehicles heading in the direction of Birkirkara.

With the new system, vehicles have now to face traffic lights, which, in addition to the lights that lead to Regional Road, a traffic jam is being created for vehicles arriving from Ta’ Xbiex and Valletta and intend going towards Birkirkara.

These vehicles are now facing not one but two lanes of traffic.

It would be best for one and all if we were to revert to the old way.

It made more sense!
