President George Abela is leaving Malta for Doha this afternoon.

He is visiting Qatar as Malta's head of state at the invitation of the Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Tonio Borg.

Six agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries during the visit.

A business delegation including senior officials from government entities, constituted bodies and private companies will be travelling with the President. They will attend a business forum, which will be addressed by President Abela, and will have one to one meetings with their Qatari counterparts.

The President and the delegation will be returning to Malta on Saturday.
