Alternattiva Demokratika has called on Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi to explain why the Nationalist and Labour parties have been given preferential treatment in the non payment of their water and electricity bills

Spokesman on energy and transport Ralph Cassar said:

"Following this revelation that the PN owe €1.9 million and the PL €600,000 in unpaid water and electricity bills, and the confirmation by Prime Minister Muscat that this is true, we expect the minister to explain the situation and inform the public how ARMS will recover the outstanding amounts.

"While the public is expected to pay its water and electricity bills in time or incur penalties or even disconnection, both leading political parties seem to have enjoyed particular privileges."

Chairman Arnold Cassola said AD also expected the minister to explain why the management of ARMS, Enemalta and WSC have failed to take any action against the two parties, both under a PN and under a PL administration.

With this "You scratch mine, I scratch yours" mentality, one begins to understand the real meaning of the Malta Taghna Lkoll slogan - preferential treatment for PN and PL, he said.
