The Powerboat P1 World Championship roadshow returns to Malta this weekend for the 2009 season-opening Grand Prix of the Sea.

This afternoon's qualifiers, which started at 2 p.m., can be viewed on the timesofmalta.com webcam - www.timesofmalta.com/webcam . Because of some restrictions, only a limited number of viewers can access the camera at the same time.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Valletta’s Grand Harbour, Powerboat fans can see local favourites Aaron and Audrien Ciantar navigating their way past the buoys against the best in the business.

Brother Aaron, alongside fellow current SuperSport class world champion Angelo Tedeschi, has jumped ship in 2009 and will race the pristene Ukranian Seagull boat, another expert Chaudron production. Meanwhile Audrien is expected to push Aaron all the way in P1’s exciting first all-female team, joining Shelley Jory in last year’s winning Conam Yachts powerboat.

Usual suspects Max Ferrari’s Metamarine hull, Luca Formilli-Fendi and the sensational-looking Cigarette Smash Poker boat return as well as new kids on the block for 2009, Team 26, featuring English duo Daniel Cramphorn and Kim Collins are widely expected to challenge for honours.

Both tomorrow's and Sunday’s (Endurance) races take place close to the Sliema waterfront and start at 2 p.m.
