The person who allegedly had an argument with a 17-year old at a Paceville nightclub more than two weeks ago is to be arraigned in the coming days, the police said.

The argument allegedly led to the man being “savagely beaten and choked” by five bouncers.

The victim said he was having a drink with his girlfriend and some friends at Shadow Lounge on October 14 when he was violently set upon by the bouncers.

He said he immediately informed police on the Paceville beat, who went to speak to the bouncers in question. The victim’s father subsequently took him to St James’ Hospital for treatment and filed a police report at St Julian’s police station.

The police said this evening they acted on the case as soon as they were informed that the victim was allegedly beaten up by a security guard.

They accompanied the victim and a person who was with him to the indicated establishment to identify the aggressors. But they could not recognise the aggressors.

The police said they had to intervene to calm the situation when the victim’s father, who arrived on the spot some time later, started shouting at the security guards of the establishment.

Even at this point the victim could not identify who had attacked him.

The police said that although he did not have evident signs of wounds, the victim presented a medical certificate which indicated he was suffering from slight injuries. At this stage he was again asked whether he could identify his aggressor but he repeated that he did not.

So the police continued with their investigations which led them to identify the security guards who escorted the victim out of the establishment and the person with whom the victim had an argument.

The police said that it was the employee with whom the victim had the argument who recognised the man.

So the police again sent for the victim to see whether he recognised this employee and to inform him of developments.

The police said that contrary to what was being alleged, the police in Paceville always carried out their duties in the best way possible.

It was also not the case that because of such occasional incidents, the law of the jungle reigned in Paceville, they said.
