A man was this evening jailed for four years for seriously injuring an immigrant.
Emanuel Pace, 43, of Marsa was found guilty of injuring the immigrant, Ismael Obasa Hussein, by seven votes against two. The jury found him not guilty of the immigrant's attempted murder.
The jail term was the maximum Mr Pace could be given for his crime.
Mr Hussein had tried to buy cigarettes from the club as it was closing its doors at around 3.30 a.m. on May 22, 2008.
The court heard yesterday that Mr Pace had stabbed the immigrant with a knife seven times in front of a closed police station following an argument at the Marsa Nationalist Party club.
