The police said this evening they had smashed a drug trafficking ring and arrested three Italians.

The arrests were made early this morning after weeks of investigation.

The men, all from Catania, are aged 54, 48 and 30. They were arrested in Paceville soon after arriving in Malta.

Some 5kg of drugs were found in their car. They include cannabis and cannabis resin.A magisterial inquiry is under way.
