The FKNK hunters' federation said this evening that it wished to thank its thousands of members for the disciplined manner in which the hunting law was adhered to during the spring hunting season that closed yesterday.

"This, notwithstanding the provocations, even by means of outright lies, the slandering, the insults and the hatred that the hunters and the FKNK had to face as a result of the deceitful campaign that was orchestrated by both locals and foreigners alike, especially by persons from the UK," the federation said.

"These eco-terrorists never thought twice about tarnishing Malta’s image deceitfully and without remorse for all the world to see."

The FKNK thanked its members for following regulations imposed by the government aimed at assuring the correct application of derogation under strictly supervised conditions in order to permit a limited hunting this spring.

The FKNK wished a quick recovery to a young man injured in a shotgun accident near Marsaxlokk yesterday.
