Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici told Parliament on Wednesday, that in 2009, there were three superintendents in the police force who were promoted to Assistant Commissioner, while six inspectors were promoted to superintendents.

Dr Mifsud Bonnici was answering a series of questions by Noel Farrugia (PL) about promotions within the Police Force last year.

He said 31 members of the force had reached their 25 years' service. Of these, 17 elected to continue working and were still in the corps.

There were also 155 still in service despite exceeding their 25-year period to date.

The minister also confirmed that within the next two years, there would be 252 members of the force who would have reached 25 years of service.
