The Nationalist Party this evening called for an independent investigation to seal and investigate in detail new documents set to be arriving in Malta in relation to Mossack Fonseca and Panama Papers.

The arrival of the documents, it said, was announced in the newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The PN reiterated that it did not have confidence in the police and insisted the inquiry should be led by three former judges who should be appointed in agreement with the Opposition under the Inquiries Act.

Unless the government accepted this request this very evening, it would mean that it did not want a serious investigation for the truth to come out about a scandal that involved the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Keith Schembri and Minister Konrad Mizzi.
