Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Parliament last week that Mepa has started a process which will include a study of the impact that penthouses have on built-up areas.

He was answering a parliamentary question by Ċensu Galea (PN). Mr Galea's question made specific reference to the regulatory 4.25 metres that penthouses should be recessed from the façade, with a suggestion that this be changed to something more sensible. Dr Gonzi replied that the provision had been in use since 1988 for all rooftop structures.
