Paediatric Surgeon Chris Fearne today announced his intention to contest the forthcoming general elections as a Labour candidate on the third and fourth electoral districts.

Mr Fearne’s candidature was approved by the PL national executive a few months ago.

In a statement he recalled that during the party leadership campaign in 2008 he had been asked to endorse Joseph Muscat. Working close to Dr Muscat had convinced him that the Labour Party had embarked on a comprehensive programme of reform, Mr Fearne said.

He said he fully identified with Joseph Muscat’s vision and after nearly 25 years serving in the health sector, he felt that it was now time to serve the country by contesting the election on the Labour ticket.

Mr Fearne hails from Paola and lives in Tarxien. He is married to Astrid and has three children.
