In reply to the letter by Brendan Azzopardi (Slow Lane, December 10) regarding my experience of being overtaken on the inside lane near the Coastline Hotel I feel that I must clarify a few points. Firstly I was not "in the middle" of the road. Secondly, I was not driving slowly and, thirdly, I was not the only one that this lunatic overtook on the inside.
Does Mr Azzopardi really think that it is ok for someone to overtake on the inside at 45kph? I note that he says nothing about blind bend overtaking - maybe he does it himself. He would soon stop if a bus or heavy goods vehicle came around the bend.
I'm not going to get into a personal argument with Mr Azzopardi over this incident but I believe that if he feels it's alright to drive like that then I hope I don't meet him on a blind bend overtaking traffic because his next trip may be to the undertakers. Which is more important, the overtaker or the undertaker?
I await the next instalment of this debate with anticipation.
