Former Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich met in Bonn on Tuesday with T-Mobile management who sacked him last week. The German has been implicated in a Spanish doping investigation and was withdrawn ahead of this year's Tour which ended on Sunday. He has consistently protested innocence.

T-Mobile team spokesman Christian Frommert said: "There were talks in Bonn, the lawyers met. It was a very good and constructive meeting.

"We agreed to not comment on the content. We fixed the date for the next meeting. There is no agreement yet but it was constructive and there will be more meetings."

Doping - Discus champion banned

Olympic women's discus champion Natalya Sadova of Russia has been banned for two years after a positive test for the steroid methandienone at a meeting in Hengelo, Netherlands, on May 28.

The International Association of Athletics Federations said Sadova was banned from competition until July 6, 2008 and all her results since May 28 this year had been annulled.

The 34-year-old Sadova was stripped of her 2001 world title and received a public warning after testing positive for excessive amounts of the stimulant caffeine, which at that time was on the banned list.

Tennis - Gilbert agrees to coach Murray

American Brad Gilbert has agreed to coach British teenager Andy Murray, the Lawn Tennis Association said yesterday.

Gilbert, who has helped Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick to the top of the world rankings previously, will also assist the LTA with its performance programmes.

No financial details of the deal were released. British number one Murray knocked Roddick out of Wimbledon earlier this month on his way to the fourth round.

The 19-year-old Scot is ranked 36 in the world but has been playing without a coach since splitting with Mark Petchey in April.

Motor racing - Patrick switching teams

Motor sports' best known female driver Danica Patrick ended speculation of joining the NASCAR circuit by opting to race for Andretti Green Racing starting next year.

Patrick, IndyCar series Rookie of the Year in 2005, had contemplated jumping to the popular NASCAR circuit but instead settled to change teams after her contract with Rahal Letterman runs out this season.

Andretti Green Racing has won the IndyCar series driver and team championships the past two years.

Patrick, currently ninth in IndyCar standings, said last week she was probably going to remain in open wheel racing.
