The new EOS coupé cabriolet by Volkswagen has just been launched, boasting "all the sporty style and security of a coupé, which, at the touch of a button, turns into a sleek, sun-worshipping convertible".
Eighteen months after its concept C study was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen unveiled the production version of its coupé cabriolet model - the EOS, VW sales manager Jason Aquilina said.
So far, only the EOS has the built-in sunroof - an innovation for this type of car, and a welcome feature in less clement weather.
In a mere 25 seconds, the entire roof lifts, folds up and slides quietly out of sight into the boot space, giving the genuine experience of a full convertible.
"The five-piece roof is simply a work of art, and clever design means it avoids the heavy rear look that afflicts its rivals," Mr Aquilina said.
The EOS, whose starting price for the 1.6 model is Lm16,000, also "boosts interior space, making it a genuine four-seater. Its dashboard is immaculately finished, and mechanicals drawn from the Passat and Golf ensure it drives as well as it looks", he said.
